Raissa Bump views her studio practice as one of collaboration, joining materials and techniques of the clothing and jewelry she is making. Her work is fueled by a direct, tactile response to the contrasting materials of metal and glass beads, appreciating them each for their unique qualities: strength, flexibility, color. There is an emphasis on structure, or lack thereof; how much is apparent and how much concealed. She received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Raissa Bump lives and works in Portland, OR.
