Mickey Smith is a New Zealand based conceptual artist, Her photography and jewelry have been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her photography series "volume" documents bound journals and periodicals from public libraries before they are digitized and replaced by a different medium. Mickey’s work on "volume" stems from a fascination with the “physical mass of knowledge and tenuousness of printed work as it fades from public consciousness.” She does not manipulate or light the books, but rather captures them as left by readers or librarians.
