Trine Ellitsgaard and Kiff Slemmons

Saturday, August 4th, 2018 5-7pm

AUGUST 4TH - SEPTEMBER 8TH

Opening Reception Saturday, August 4th 5-7pm

The exhibit will be a first-time show collaboration between long time friends Trine Ellitsgaard and Kiff Slemmons. Both are artists, designers, and craftsmen - exhibiting new works in textile and jewelry. As the title implies, the show will also explore the correlative components present in their respective disciplines.

Ellitsgaard and Slemmons share a long history together with Oaxaca, Mexico. Many of the materials chosen for their pieces, such as the paper, bones and indigenous fibers, are obtained from the region.

Exhibited will be a collection of sculptural weavings and ornamental objects and jewelry - which at times overlap in both concept and use of materials.

Both Ellitsgaard and Slemmons, are known for their experimental and transformative purposing of materials, as well as their masterful craft competence and distinct aesthetic.
